FAQ
Common questions
Short answers for the decisions people make before they trust a chart.
Why do you need birth time?
The Lagna (ascendant) and house cusps move roughly one degree every four minutes. Without a time, we can still work with the Moon and many dasha factors. Choose “time unknown” and Astralis withholds ascendants, houses, overlays, and house-dependent doshas instead of inventing them.
What is Guna Milan?
Ashtakoota matching scores eight traditional factors (Varna through Nadi) out of 36. It is a structured Vedic checklist for emotional and familial fit — not a guarantee of marriage success, and not a substitute for Western aspect chemistry, which we show separately.
Vedic or Western — which is “right”?
They ask different questions. Vedic matching emphasizes Moon, nakshatra, and dasha longevity factors. Western synastry uses tropical positions, major cross-chart aspects, and Placidus house overlays. Vedic uses sidereal Lahiri positions and whole-sign houses. Astralis keeps both visible so you can see agreement and tension.
Are share links private?
A chart or match link contains the birth details needed to rebuild the reading. Anyone with the link can open it. Do not post it publicly if privacy matters. Clearing the browser’s local storage removes the “saved on this device” copy.
Is the AI reading authoritative?
No. All astrology math is completed locally first. The AI receives only derived findings and cannot calculate or overwrite them. It does not receive raw birth time, birthplace, coordinates, or timezone.
How does Daily update without anyone writing it?
Daily Astrology uses today’s date (Asia/Kolkata noon) and the same ephemeris as Chart. Sun, Moon, nakshatra, and twelve house-based notes are computed on the server — when the calendar day changes, the page changes. No cron and no editor.
